DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

January 9, 2018

 

The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.    The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Roll call of officials was taken:  Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien and Trustees:  C.J. Horkey, Travis Horkey, Gary Lazette and Ken Jaworski were present.   Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the agenda and Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on December 12, 2017 and waive the reading of such.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Trustees Lazette and Travis Horkey abstained.  Motion carried.  Trustee Jaworski moved to approve the November 2017 Treasurer’s report and Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to waive the reading of the Correspondence and place on file.  Trustee Lazette supported.  Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  None

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS: 

Library Report:  None 

 

Assessing Department:  Supervisor Uhl reported they are working on finalizing their field work, preparing the roll and getting ready for Board of Review.  

 

Building Department:  None

 

Supervisor Uhl:  Reported on an email received from Sgt. Sehl commending our Fireman Lt. Rob Justice for his dedication and service in a recent call that he had responded to.  Supervisor Uhl read a letter she composed on behalf of the board to send to Rob Justice recognizing him.  Supervisor Uhl reported the BDC will be holding a Planning & Zoning Seminar at 6:00 p.m. on March 21st at the Old Mill in Dundee. 

 

Trustee C.J.:  None

 

Trustee Lazette:  Reported there will be a Planning Commission Meeting on January 17th.  If the board has anything they wish the PC to address please let him know.   Trustee Lazette would like the board to pursue the five resolutions legally regarding the Marijuana Licensing process.  Trustee Lazette would like to resolve the cold infiltration concerns at the fire hall that was discussed last year.  Trustee CJ will contact the Building Inspector to coordinate a meeting date and time at the fire hall along with Trustee’s Lazette and Jaworski. 

 

Trustee Travis Horkey:  None

 

Trustee Jaworski:  Reported the cemetery drives were clear. 

 

Treasurer Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported the credit card process is up and running.  A 3½% convenience fee will be charged to those who use a credit card.  The credit card link will be put on the website for residents who wish to pay this way.  Treasurer Sontag reported you cannot prepay 2018 taxes. 

 

Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported she will have some budget amendments for our next meeting and will be starting to work on the 2018-2019 Budget.  Water District Lottery Letters will be mailed out shortly and will be due by February 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.

  

OLD BUSINESS:  

Library Fence Quote:   Trustee Lazette reported two quotes were received for fencing at the Library.  One was $2,925.00 and the other was $2,192.00.  The board discussed the two types of fencing, option of repainting the concrete yellow and budget.  Trustee CJ moved to seek a reputable company to repaint the concrete yellow when the weather allows.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Special Use Approval–Bed & Breakfast–Kelly–Lloyd Road:  A special use request for a Bed & Breakfast located at 1098 Lloyd Road was discussed.  The township board approved a conditional rezoning for this property and is now being asked to consider special use approval.  The PC has approved the Special Use and is recommending the township board approve.  The Kelly’s were present to answer questions.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the Special Approval request for Bed & Breakfast use for the Kelly property located at 1098 Lloyd Road.  All costs the township has incurred for this process must be reimbursed to the township in advance (i.e.; recording fees, legal fees).  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 

 

River Raisin Watershed Dues:  Trustee Lazette moved to pay the 2018 River Raisin Watershed Dues of $174.00.  Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried. 

 

Budget Workshop Date/Long Range Planning Meeting: The Long Range Planning meeting scheduled prior to our January 23rd meeting is being cancelled.  A Budget Workshop will be held in place of that at 5:00 p.m.  Further workshops will be scheduled at our next board meeting.

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS: 

Clerk Salenbien reminded board members that Budget Workshops will need to be scheduled at our next meeting.
