The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the Dundee Township Hall. Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll call of officials was taken: Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien and Trustees: C.J. Horkey, Gary Lazette and Travis Horkey were present. Trustee Ken Jaworski was excused. Trustee CJ moved to approve the agenda upon revising and adding under “New Business” the Agreement between Dundee Township and Summerfield Township for Enforcement of State Building Codes as to certain parcels. Clerk Salenbien supported. Motion carried. Trustee CJ moved to approve the Regular Meeting minutes of April 24, 2018, and waive the reading of such. Treasurer Sontag supported. Supervisor Uhl abstained. Motion carried. Trustee CJ moved to approve the correspondence and waive the reading of such. Treasurer Sontag supported. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
Library Report: Jennifer reported the library system as a whole is down 5.6%. Program attendance is up and the book sale went well. The summer reading program theme is “Library’s Rock”. The cleaning of the floor in the downstairs turned out beautiful.
Assessing Department: Supervisor Uhl reported on the new legislation being proposed to consolidate assessing at the county level. Erika and Bob will be attending a meeting at the County on Thursday to find out more information.

Trustee C.J.: None
Trustee Lazette: Attended the River Raisin Watershed Conference at Cabela’s and reported it was a very informative meeting on Algae Bloom. Follow- up on the cold air problem at the firehall still needs to be done.
Trustee Travis Horkey: Reported a resident contacted him about some roadside ditching work needed on Gloff and Dixon roads. Supervisor Uhl will follow up and contact the road commission to discuss.
Trustee Jaworski: Excused
Treasurer Sontag: Treasurer Sontag reported she is preparing for the next tax season and answering lots of questions on letters the county has sent.
Clerk Salenbien: Clerk Salenbien reported the auditors are completed with the audit. Once finalized the review meeting will be scheduled. Preparations for the August 7th election have started.
OLD BUSINESS: None
MCRC – Dust Control Contract/Discussions: Supervisor Uhl reported a correction to the dust control contract was necessary to reflect the proper treatment application and cost for 2018 before signing. To allow the work to be scheduled the contract needed to be approved by our May 8th meeting. Supervisor Uhl moved to allow the Clerk and Supervisor to sign a contract for dust control that does not exceed $31,500. This contract will be for brine applied on the east side of 23 and chloride on the west side of Dundee. Clerk Salenbien supported. Motion carried.
Rotary Club – Circus at Rod Park: Barbara Carrol, of the Dundee Area Rotary Club was present to request permission from the township to allow the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus at Rod Park for two shows on June 16th. Trustee CJ moved to allow the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus at Rod Park for two shows on June 16th. upon pulling the necessary permits and providing the necessary insurance certificates. Treasurer Sontag supported. Motion carried.
Michigan Week Award – Nominations: The board discussed nomination ideas for the Michigan Week Awards. These individuals will be honored at a breakfast on May 24th at the Monroe Bank & Trust in Downtown Monroe. Trustee CJ moved to nominate Marilyn Dermanelian for the Dundee Minuteman award and Dave Hoffman for the Dundee Golden Heart Award for 2018. Treasurer Sontag supported. Motion carried.
Cummins-Bridgeway-Multi-year agreement: Trustee Lazette moved to approve signing the Planned Equipment Maintenance Agreement with Cummins Sales as presented for a 3-year contract at a cost of $1,490.28. Trustee Travis supported. Motion carried.
Agreement between Dundee and Summerfield Township for Enforcement of State Building Codes as to Certain Parcels: Supervisor Uhl explained a couple of parcels on Dixon Road having frontage in Summerfield Township and some acreage in Dundee Township an agreement was necessary to distinguish the enforcement for building codes should something be built on the parcels. Four new parcel numbers will be assigned to these two parcels and each parcel will receive two tax bills and Dundee Township will still assess for the portion that lies in our township. Summerfield Building Inspector will take care of all the permitting and inspections. Summerfield Township has already approved and signed this agreement. Clerk Salenbien moved to approve signing the Agreement between Dundee and Summerfield Township for the Enforcement of the State Building Codes as to Certain Parcels. Trustee CJ supported. Motion carried.
ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS:
Clerk Salenbien inquired about the steps being repaired at the library. Trustee Lazette will contact Brad Wade to come look at them.
Trustee Lazette reported there have been two new LED lights installed on the north side of the building. New flags will be put up for Memorial Day at all the cemeteries.
Clerk Salenbien thanked Supervisor Uhl and Trustee Lazette for weathering the cold working at Clean Up day.
Trustee Lazette wanted Supervisor Uhl make sure she addressed reviewing permitting fees when meeting with all inspectors.
Motion made by Supervisor Uhl supported by Treasurer Sontag to pay the bills from May 3, 2018, in the amount of $14,058.72. Motion carried.
Motion made by Trustee CJ supported by Treasurer Sontag to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
