DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

OCTOBER 24, 2017

 

The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.    The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Roll call of officials was taken:  Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien and Trustees:  C.J. Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Travis Horkey and Gary Lazette were present.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the agenda and Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee Lazette moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on October 10, 2017 and waive the reading of such.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried.  Clerk Salenbien moved to approve the September, 2017 Treasurer Report.  Trustee C.J. supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to waive the reading of the Correspondence and place on file.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  August Ost, Dundee Elementary Principal was present to answer questions regarding the upcoming Dundee School election on November 7, 2017. 

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS: 

 

Assessing Department:  None

 

Building Department:  None

 

Supervisor Uhl:  Reported she attended the County Chapter MTA meeting and will be attending a MDOT Traffic Summit meeting on November 9th

 

Trustee C.J.:  Trustee CJ reported there were 53 total calls for September, 2017. 

 

Trustee Lazette:  Trustee Lazette reported the Planning Commission scheduled for October 18th was cancelled.  Trustee Lazette reported on the River Raisin Watershed meeting that he attended last week. 

 

Trustee Travis Horkey:  None

 

Trustee Jaworski:  None

 

Treasurer Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported the flyer’s to be included with the tax bill are almost complete.  If any board members have anything to include tonight would be the last night to let her know.  A folding machine will be purchased. 

 

Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported she has an election inspector training class at the township hall on October 25th and the Public Accuracy Test will be held on October 26th.    Absentee ballots for the November 7th election are coming in slow. 

 

OLD BUSINESS:  None

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Monroe County Planning Department / Bed & Breakfast – Review:   The board reviewed the document from the MCPC regarding the rezoning for 1.27 acres from R-1A, Single Family Residential District to AG-1 Agricultural District located at 1098 Lloyd Road.  The purpose of the rezoning is to establish a bed and breakfast on the property.  MCPC is recommending approval. 

 

2017-Z-2 – Conditional Rezoning Request (from Residential to Ag) – Lloyd Road – Kelly:  Trustee C.J. moved to adopt the Conditional Rezoning document 2017-Z-2 pursuant to the agreement presented.  Trustee Jaworski supported.  Motion carried.

 

Cemetery Ordinance Amendment 19-C:  The board discussed proposed amendment to Section 10, Repurchase of lots or burial spaces.  If amended, the township would offer to repurchase unused graves for 50% of the current resident rate.    Supervisor Uhl moved to adopt Cemetery Ordinance Amendment 19-C, which amends Section 10, Repurchase of Lots or Burial Spaces.  Trustee Lazette supported.  Roll Call vote was taken with all members voting in favor.  Motion carried.  This becomes effective 30 days from publication.  

 

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS:  Trustee Lazette reported a Code Red announcement will be going out this weekend about the election and the Halloween Bash. 

 

Trustee Travis inquired about an item on the Accounts Payable for “Agent Fees”.     Treasurer Sontag responded these are fees associated with our bonds. 

Commissioner Hoffman wondered why we were not at the open house at the Chrysler Plant since the township receives revenues from the plant.  Supervisor Uhl responded because it is in the Village.  Clerk Salenbien reported we didn’t get invited or know anything about it.  The Village is part of the Township.  

 

Motion made by Supervisor Uhl supported by Treasurer Sontag to pay the bills in the amount of $44,714.52.  Motion carried.    

 

Motion made by Trustee C.J. supported by Treasurer Sontag to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.  The next meeting will be November 14, 2017.
