DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

December 11, 2018

 

The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. Trustee CJ moved approve the agenda after eliminating the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call of officials as it was done at the Public Hearing held earlier.  Supervisor Uhl supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the November 13, 2018, Regular Meeting minutes and waive the reading of such. Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee Jaworski moved to approve the October, 2018 Treasurer’s Report.  Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried.  Clerk Salenbien moved to approve the November, 2018 Treasurers Report and Trustee Travis supported.  Motion carried.      

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  None

 

DUNDEE PRODUCTS RESOLUTION 2018-6 – Approving an IFT Application:    Trustee Lazette moved to approve Resolution 2018-6, Application for Industrial Facilities Exemption for Dundee Products New Facility as submitted for a period of 12 years.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Trustee Travis inquired about how an IFT works and why a company would request one.  With no further discussion, a roll call vote was taken and all board members voted in favor.  Motion carried.  Ms. Monagin thanked the board for their support and guidance in this process. 

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS: 

Library Report:  Jennifer Grudnoski, Librarian reported on circulation statistics and programming for November and holiday activities planned for December.  A fund raising effort has begun to help offset excess cost of the new MCLS bookmobile that is being purchased in memory of Cory Lake by the Lake family.  The Lake family has donated $100,000 towards the cost of this vehicle.  Anyone wishing to donate funds to this fund may stop in to the Library and talk to Jennifer for more details.  

 

Assessing Department:  Supervisor Uhl reported December “Board of Review” was held on the 11th and is completed. 

 

Building Department:  None

 

Supervisor Uhl:  None

 

Trustee C.J.:  Trustee CJ reported there were a total of 65 calls in November.  Chief Motylinski inquired if Blissfield may be able to use our old truck 22-4 (pumper) if needed.  Due to the recent fire of Blissfield’s fire hall, their equipment is out of service.  Clerk Salenbien will check with our insurance company for further details.      

 

Trustee Lazette:  Trustee Lazette reported the first township water district established (Dixon road) is now complete.  Trustee Lazette thanked Treasurer Sontag for her work on this process.

Trustee Lazette reported he is still waiting for additional quotes for disconnect, store and reconnect of the AC units at the library.  There will be a Planning Commission meeting December 19th

 

Trustee Travis Horkey:  Trustee Travis inquired about ditch work on Gloff Road. 

 

Trustee Jaworski:  None

 

Treasurer Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported reimbursement checks for the Dixon Road water district have been mailed.  Tax bills were mailed out and have started to come in. 

 

Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported complaints had been received about the condition of the driveways in Maplegrove Cemetery.  Bienco Trucking was contacted and graded the driveways and filled the holes in.  Clerk Salenbien reported a recount is underway for the Britton Deerfield School Board that was on the November 6, 2018 Election.  This is being handled by Lenawee County. 

 

OLD BUSINESS:  

2018 Gradall Work Update:  Supervisor Uhl reported the MCRC discovered three basins need replaced instead of two on Trost Road.  The cost estimate for each basin is between $3,000 and $4,000 each.  This work will be paid out of our gradall funds. 

 

Lloyd Property – Agreement:  Supervisor Uhl discussed the “Draft” Burial Site Exchange Agreement and a few changes that had been made within it.  Originally the Lloyds had requested 40 grave sites but because the cemetery is sectioned with 6 graves in a section, it would be better to change the number of grave to 42 graves and set aside 7 sections for their family members.   Due to tax issue concerns, the Lloyds would like to complete this agreement before the end of 2018.  The Lloyds are to provide us with the list of deed holder names and addresses to be designated for each grave.   Trustee CJ moved to allow the Supervisor and Clerk to finalize the Burial Site Exchange Agreement to accept the property from the Lloyds Farms Inc. in exchange for giving them 42 burial sites as provided and named by them.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried.   

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Zoning Board Appointment:   Trustee CJ moved to appoint Mike Mchugh to fill out the remaining term of Larry Houpt on the Zoning Board of Appeals Board.  Supervisor Uhl supported.  Motion carried.  The term is April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2020. 

 

Establish Budget Workshop Dates:  The first Budget Workshop will be held January 22, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. 

 

Additional Invoices for Petersburg Road and Brewer Road Projects:  Supervisor Uhl explained ongoing issues on Petersburg road that cannot be resolved until next year.  Rather than withhold payment on the remaining invoices for this project, Supervisor Uhl has prepared a letter asking them to commit to correcting the issues during the 2019 construction season.   We will be asking for the letter to be signed and returned as their commitment to resolving issues.  Trustee Jaworski moved to send a letter of record to the Road Commission requesting their commitment to resolving the concerns on Petersburg Road between the township line and Brewer Road during the 2019 construction season.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried. 

 

2019 Road Project Estimates:  No estimates have been received at this time. 

 

December 25, 2018 Regular Meeting:  Trustee Lazette moved to cancel the December 25, 2018 Regular Meeting.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 

 

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS: 

Trustee CJ reported on an estimate Chief Motylinski had obtained for repair work at the fire hall.  Fire committee members will schedule a meeting with Chief Motylinski. 

Trustee Travis inquired about a bill on the October and November Treasurers report. 

The marketing director for the new Dundee Family Pharmacy introduced herself and explained the many services they offer. 

 

Motion made by Supervisor Uhl supported by Clerk Salenbien to pay the bills from 11/22/18 in the amount of $15,783.02.   Motion carried.    Motion made by Trustee Lazette supported by Treasurer Sontag to pay the bills from 12/6/18 in the amount of $6,567.98.  Motion made by Trustee Lazette supported by Trustee Travis to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 8:08. p.m.
