DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

JULY 22, 2008

 

 

The regular meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday July 22, 2008 at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were Supervisor Uhl, Clerk Lupu, Treasurer Sontag and Trustees:  Larson, Juckette, Winkelman and Lazette.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Motion by Trustee Juckette and supported by Treasurer Sontag to accept the agenda with the Treasurer's Report for June 2008 as a line item addition.  Motion carried.

Motion by Trustee Larson and supported by Trustee Winkelman to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held July 8, 2008 and waive the reading of such.  Motion carried.

Motion by Trustee Larson and supported by Clerk Lupu to accept the treasurer's report for June 2008.  Motion carried.

Motion by Trustee Larson and supported by Trustee Winkelman to accept the correspondence and place on file.  Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

Information was given to board members by Mr. Marvin McManmon and Ms. Arleen Wiech regarding an upcoming township planning commission public hearing.  The public hearing is requested by their neighbor for a special approval for a dog kennel.  The public hearing will take place on August 20, 2008.  Board members will hold the information until a recommendation for either approval or denial from the planning commission has been submitted to the board.

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS

Supervisor Uhl

The township attorney has recommended that a letter be drafted to Ida Township outlining Dundee Township's concerns over the Motorsport Park proposed for their township.  The park could adversely affect Dundee Township residents in close proximity to the site.  Main concerns voiced by board members are noise, dust and traffic issues.

 

 

 

Assessing Department

Board of Review was held today.  The board received 29 petitions and 1 hardship exemption.

 

Trustee Lazette

Samples of test roads have been obtained and sent to the lab for results in determining the correct mixture needed for the P.M.S. application.  Equipment companies will be contacted regarding the renting of a reclaimer needed for the application.

A planning commission meeting was held on July 16, 2008.  The public hearing that had been scheduled for that meeting has been rescheduled until August 20, 2008.

 

Trustee Juckette

The Road Commission has still not vacuumed or repaired the catch basin on Meanwell Road.  They will be contacted again.

 

Trustee Winkelman

The sale of the fire truck is still being pursued.  The fire department held their annual golf outing on July 19, 2008.  Proceeds will be used to purchase a smoke house that is an educational tool for children teaching them how to get out of a smoke filled room.

 

Clerk Lupu

The public accuracy test for the accu vote machines will be held on Tuesday July 29, 2008.  One petition has been submitted as of today for the village council positions that will be on the November election ballot.  The deadline for petition submission is Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.

 

OLD BUSINESS

The written appraisal report for the potential fire department property will be available for board members on Monday July 28, 2008.  The discussion of the report will be on the agenda for the next regular meeting to be held Tuesday August 12, 2008.

 

NEW BUSINESS

A donation request was received for the Annual Pig Roast and Raffle sponsored by the Dundee Area Senior Citizens.  In the past years the board has donated gas cards used for the raffle.  Motion by Trustee Lazette and supported by Trustee Winkelman to approve donating five $50.00 gas cards for use in the Senior Citizens Pig Roast Raffle to be held on Saturday July 26, 2008.  Motion carried.

Board members will be given copies of a sample ordinance regarding enforcement of building code non-compliance.  Building Inspector Bob Madaski will supply board members with an approximate number of non-compliance cases pertaining to Dundee Township.  This will remain an agenda item for the next board meeting.

 

Information listing projects and areas in the township that have benefited from the road millage will be compiled and placed on the township website and bulletin board for resident's inspection.

 

Motion by Trustee Larson and supported by Supervisor Uhl to pay the bills in the amount of $36,248.66.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Clerk Lupu and supported by Trustee Lazette to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  Time of adjournment was 7:55 p.m.
