April 23, 2019


The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.    The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Roll call of officials was taken:  Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien, Trustees:  Lazette, Travis Horkey, Jaworski and Trustee C.J. were present. 


At this time the 2018-2019 State Wrestling Champion team was honored.  Supervisor Uhl presented a Proclamation to the team and individual State Champions.  State Representative, Jason Sheppard presented a Special Tribute to each of the three state champions and one for the team. 


Supervisor Uhl moved to approve the agenda upon adding under “New Business” Proclamation 2019-2.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the Regular meeting minutes held April 9, 2019 and waive the reading of such.  Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee Lazette moved to approve the March, 2019 Treasurer’s report.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the correspondence and place on file.  Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried. 





Assessing Department:  None


Building Department:  None


Supervisor Uhl:  Supervisor Uhl updated the board on the Schultz property and reported the attorneys are working on the language for the amendment.  The annual clean up day will be held Saturday, April 27th.  A Citizen Planning Program is being offered by Michigan State University with an online course at a cost of $275.00.  Supervisor Uhl would like to make this opportunity available if there is some interest.  Trustee CJ moved to approve up to two people from either the township or planning commission to do the online course if interested.  Supervisor Uhl supported.  Motion carried.  Supervisor Uhl reported MTA has an upcoming Planning and Zoning workshop at the end of May.  A preliminary meeting was held with the planners, John Eno’s and Laura Kreps of Carlisle Workman to discuss preliminary plans for updating our master plan.  Supervisor Uhl reported the blight issue on Ann Arbor road is making great progress in the clean-up. 


Trustee C.J.:  None


Trustee Lazette: Trustee Lazette reported a 2” drainage hole was drilled on the south side of the library wall.  Trustee Lazette met with Chief Motylinski and Phil Motylinski Jr. to discuss a plan and costs for surge protection and signaling device for the grinder pumps. 


Trustee Travis Horkey:  Trustee Travis cautioned Trustee Lazette on the costs for the surge protection versus the cost of a new pump. 


Trustee Jaworski:  Trustee Jaworski reported he followed up with Vern Guindon on the grinder pumps and found they are an aftermarket pump and won’t work. 


Treasurer Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported on the changes at MBT since they are going through a merger.  Residents will no longer be able to pay their taxes at all branches of MBT.  After July, the only branch that will accept Dundee tax payments is the Dundee Branch. 


Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported the auditors will begin the audit April 29th





Michigan Week Award – Discussions:  The board discussed suggestions for nominees for the Michigan Week Award.  Kelly Venier of the Library was recommended for this award.  Clerk Salenbien moved to nominate Kelly Venier for the Michigan Week Award and to authorize paying for her and two other guests to attend the breakfast at a cost of $15.00 each.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 


Proclamation 2019-2:  Trustee CJ moved to approve Proclamation 2019-2, Honoring Assistant Fire Chief Terry Massengill for more than forty decades of service to our community.  Trustee Jaworski supported.  Motion carried. 


Proclamation 2019-1:  Trustee CJ moved to approve Proclamation 2019-1, Honoring the Dundee High School Wrestling Team for their 2018-2019 Wrestling Season.  Trustee Lazette supported.  Motion carried. 



Trustee Lazette reported there will be a River Raisin Watershed meeting on Thursday at Cabela’s. 

Trustee Lazette thanked Tanya for making the correction in the paper regarding a budget figure. 

Trustee CJ inquired about the house fire on East Lloyd Road. 


Motion made by Trustee Lazette supported by Treasurer Sontag to pay the bills from 4/18/19 in the amount of $292,986.14.   Motion carried.    

Motion made by Treasurer Sontag supported by Trustee CJ to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m. 


The next meeting will be May 14, 2019.
