June 26, 2018


The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.    The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Roll call of officials was taken:  Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien and Trustees:  C.J. Horkey, Gary Lazette, Travis Horkey and Ken Jaworski were present.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the agenda and Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.   Trustee CJ moved to approve the Regular Meeting minutes of June 12, 2018 and waive the reading of such.  Trustee Travis supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee Lazette moved to approve the May, 2018 Treasurer Report.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the correspondence and waive the reading of such.  Supervisor Uhl supported.  Motion carried. 





Assessing Department: None


Building Department:  None


Supervisor Uhl:  Supervisor Uhl reported on the suggestions from Fred Lucas regarding the Castelnero property at 5249 Ann Arbor Road.  Mr. Lucas recommended we have our Ordinance Officer make regular weekly visits, taking pictures for any progress being made in the clean-up for another two weeks.  If it is determined no progress is being made in those two weeks then Supervisor Uhl has been authorized to place an ad in the paper for bids.  Supervisor Uhl will contact Fred Lucas for guidance and a defined “scope of work” for bidders. 


Trustee C.J.:  Trustee CJ reported there was a ZBA meeting in June and two more ZBA requests for July.


Trustee Lazette: None


Trustee Travis Horkey:  None


Trustee Jaworski:  Reported on a minor mowing complaint at Maplegrove Cemetery.  The trash/compost container has been made more accessible for the resident’s use. 


Treasurer Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported she attended a Monroe County Treasurers meeting.  A poster to help identify counterfeit money was shared by Treasurer Sontag.  Summer Tax bills will be mailed on June 28th.     


Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported absentee ballots have arrived for the August 7th election and will mailed out soon.   Reminded candidates for Village offices of the filing deadline of July 24th





Robert Schultz – Bond Discussion:  Mr. Schultz who owns the Meanwell Road (former Stoneco excavation site) property with the pond was present to address the board on the requirement of building a residence on the property per the consent judgement established between Stoneco and the Township.  As part of the consent judgment a $150,000 Performance Bond was required and provided by Stoneco.  The Stoneco bond was tied to Mr. Schultz getting his own bond and a Certificate of Occupancy being issued. This bond expired in September 24, 2017 and a permit for a home or certificate of occupancy has not been issued.   Mr. Schultz explained that his plans have not changed but are delayed due to lengthy divorce and his financial situation.  Mr. Schultz explained his plans to build a home still exists but may be 3-5 years away and he would like to see how he can work with the township to meet the guidelines per the consent judgment (bond).  After much discussion, Supervisor Uhl informed Mr. Schultz that some type of timeline he can live with, tangible item, collateral plan or lien must be prepared and presented to the township. 


2017-2018 Audit Discussions: The board discussed developing some sort of snapshot of the budget at fiscal year-end (after the audit) as a guide to help determine if there were any surplus funds that could be set aside in special accounts for future use.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the 2017-2018 audit as presented.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 


Oakgrove Cemetery Memo:  Supervisor Uhl reported she had been contacted by Larry Lloyd representing Lloyd Farms, Inc. with at proposal of donating the parcel adjacent to Oakgrove Cemetery in exchange for forty burial sites.   Our attorney has been contacted and indicted that it could be done.  Supervisor Uhl asked the board if this was something that the board would like her to continue to negotiate.  All board members agreement we should pursue.  The board discussed some items that need addressed in the agreement:  location of the forty graves in the existing cemetery (new section), limiting the number of graves be sold back to the township per year, repurchase rate (township resident rate), burial costs (not included) and any impact/approvals required from Summerfield Township (the land is in Summerfield Township). 



The Township Offices will be closed on July 4th and 5th

Chief Motylinski reported the firemen will be going to look at the new truck in July for the second time.  Chief Motylinski reported he met with Chris Lane and did a walk through of the firehall to discuss the concerns and invited committee members to stop out and review his repair suggestions.  Continuing to work on SCBA grants and ladder and hose testing are being done.  Chief Motylinski reported the fire department was in support of the 911 Surcharge proposal on the August ballot. 


Supervisor Uhl moved to cancel our July 10, 2018, Regular Board Meeting.  Trustee Lazette supported.  Motion carried.   Our next regular meeting will be July 24, 2018. 


Motion made by Supervisor Uhl supported by Treasurer Sontag to pay the bills in the amount of $20,158.49.   Motion carried.    


Motion made by Trustee CJ supported by Treasurer Sontag to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 9:03 p.m.
