OFFICIAL REPORTS
Supervisor Uhl
A meeting was held with members of the Monroe County Road Commission regarding the possibility of additional funds for Dundee Township roads. However, this is not possible because county tax dollars can not be spent on area roads.
A joint project involving London and Dundee Townships and the Road Commission was approved for Day Road. Dundee Township’s cost is approximately $26,000.00. The project will consist of 3 inches of 1 X 3 gravel down the center of the road followed by 3 inches of 21A on top. Board members are concerned that this will not alleviate the problems that occur with the spring thaw. The road commission will be contacted.
Ida Township is holding a public hearing tonight regarding a private park special approval request. The property involved is adjacent to Dundee Township. Building Inspector Bob Madaski is attending on behalf of the township.
Assessing Department
An annual assessing 6 hour renewal was attended by Mike Miletti, Marilyn Larson and Chris Fricke on April 30, 2008. The 2008 assessment roll has been completed and will be reconciled with the treasurer’s department.
Trustee Larson
A new flag has been installed at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Spring cleanup of the cemeteries was completed by R & R Lawn Care. Each year Mr. Justice donates $400.00 in honor of the veteran’s towards purchases for the cemetery. A portion of the donated funds will be used to purchase flags to have on hand when needed for the cemeteries.
Trustee Lazette
The River Raisin Watershed held a meeting on May 7th regarding water quality. A planning commission meeting will be held on Wednesday May 21st.
Trustee Winkelman
The following fire calls were responded to for the month of April:
Township Village
Fires 6 0
Rescues 6 21
Other Calls 4 2
Mutual Aid 1
Total calls for the month of April are 40.
The siren has been removed and an estimate is being obtained for repair. An estimate will also be sought for sandblasting and painting of the siren tower. Firehouse Friday is a program through the W4 Country Music Station and will be held on June 6th at our fire hall from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Treasurer Goetz
The 2008 tax database is complete and will be reconciled with the assessing department. The township auditor has suggested that the general ledger system be added to the treasurer’s software program. BS & A Software will be contacted.
NEW BUSINESS
A contract has been received from the Monroe County Road Commission for the application of chloride for dust control of the township roads. Motion by Trustee Larson and supported by Clerk Lupu to approve the MCRC chloride contract at a cost of $33,818.40. Motion carried.
A feasibility study was conducted on a building under consideration for purchasing to be renovated as a fire hall. The next phase will be an appraisal of the property. The property owner will be contacted for approval. Motion by Trustee Juckette and supported by Trustee Lazette to move forward with a professional appraisal by D. J. Helser of the potential fire department building site pending owner approval. Motion carried.
Estimates have been received for reclamation of the Curry Pond. Board members were concerned that prior additional leins have been placed on the property and the money involved with the reclamation will not be recouped by the township. A potential buyer of the property has requested a meeting with Building Inspector Bob Madaski and the township attorney for possible negotiations. This will remain on the agenda for the next meeting for further clarification.
