FEBRUARY 25, 2020


The Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Dundee Township Hall.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.    The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Roll call of officials was taken:  Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag, Clerk Salenbien, Trustees:  Lazette, Jaworski, and C.J. Horkey were present.  Travis Horkey was excused.  Supervisor Uhl moved to approve the meeting agenda upon amending and adding “Adopt Federal Poverty Guidelines” under “New Business”.  Trustee CJ supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the minutes from the Workshop held January 28, 2020 and Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the Regular meeting minutes held January 28, 2020 and waive the reading of such.  Clerk Salenbien supported. Motion carried. Trustee CJ moved to approve the budget workshop minutes held February 11, 2020 and Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried.  Trustee CJ moved to approve the January, 2020 Treasurer’s report.  Trustee Lazette supported.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Sontag moved to approve the correspondence and waive the reading of such.  Clerk Salenbien supported.  Motion carried. 





Assessing Department:  None


Building Department:  Dennis gave board members the monthly permit list from January 1, 2020 through February 24, 2020.  Dennis reported he is receiving a lot of calls and expects this year to be busy. 


Supervisor Uhl:  Supervisor Uhl reported she met with two representatives from the Road Commission regarding two culverts needing addressed.  The RC has estimated $90,000 for the culvert repair on Irish Road and Pitts Creek and $10,000 for the culvert on Meanwell Road at Plum Creek. The road commission does not have a system for inspection on culverts until they go bad.  Supervisor Uhl reported the federal government does have an inspection program for bridges and gave board members a handout for bridges in our township.   Supervisor Uhl reported the Drain Commission would be willing to work with us on the payment terms of these projects. 


Trustee C.J.: None


Trustee Lazette:  Reported there was a Planning Commission meeting held last Wednesday.  


Trustee Travis Horkey:  Excused


Trustee Jaworski:  None


Trustee Sontag:  Treasurer Sontag reported she will be open from 9:00 am till 5:00 on Monday to take in any final taxes and will then be taking the roll to the county shortly after.   All delinquent taxes will then need to be paid at the county.  Treasurer Sontag wanted to make it official to the public that she will not be running again for Treasurer’s position in the November election. 


Clerk Salenbien:  Clerk Salenbien reported she has been busy getting ready for the March 10th Primary Election.  Absentee’s are coming back steadily.  Clerk Salenbien also announced that she was not going to run for the Clerk’s position in the November election.   





Fire Hall Use Policy:  The board reviewed and discussed the “draft” policy establishing guidelines for use of the township hall and fire hall.  A final draft will be presented at our next meeting. 


Policy Manual Changes:  The board discussed a “Office Pet Policy” to be included in the Personnel Policy Manual.  Clerk Salenbien moved to approve the Office Pet Policy as presented and add to the Personnel Policy Manual.  Treasurer Sontag supported.  Motion carried. 







Trustee Lazette inquired about the cross-tile work being done on Stowell Road.  Supervisor Uhl reported the Road Commission is working towards a solution. 

Supervisor Uhl will check on the status of Radka Road where embankment was washing away last year to see if there is further erosion.    

Trustee Jaworski reported there are pot holes by the bridge on Petersburg Road that need addressed.  Clerk Salenbien reported there is a hole that needs addressed in the roadway between Brewer Road and the second bridge. 

Trustee Jaworski inquired about paving roads instead of stoning projects.  Trustee Travis discussed analyzing roads for drainage and berm removal work.  Suggestions may be given to Supervisor Uhl. 

Discussed a test fabric that was used under the stone on Alford Road years ago and how that area of the road has held up very good.    


Motion made by Trustee CJ supported by Clerk Salenbien to pay the bills from 1/24/2020 in the amount of $17,556.07.  Motion carried.  


Motion made by Treasurer Sontag supported by Trustee CJ to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m. 


The next meeting will be February 11, 2020.  A budget workshop will be held prior to the meeting at 5:00 p.m.
