DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

JULY 13, 2021

 

A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, July 13, 2021.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Present were: Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Hunt, Clerk Sanders and Trustees: Gary Lazette, C.J. Horkey, Ken Jaworski and Travis Horkey. Supervisor Uhl made a motion to revise the agenda & add the review of the Dundee Township Zoning Ordinance Modifications to new business. Trustee CJ Horkey supported. Motion carried. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve the regular meeting minutes from the meeting held on June 22,2021 & waive the reading. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to waive the reading & place on file 2 items of correspondence. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

 

Public comment:

3 residents came to the meeting to discuss the Pitts drain, other upcoming items to consider, give an update on the possible ordinance violation that was previously discussed at the last meeting & to inquire about the article in the paper regarding the Township discussion on moving to the Village of Dundee building offices.

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS: 

Library Report:  Jennifer from the library attended the meeting to give an update. The MCLS is back open to 100%, book clubs are back open & they are also in the planning process of starting a preschool program.

 

Assessing Department:  Board of Review meeting is Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 10am.

 

Building Department:  None

 

Supervisor Uhl:  Gave an update on the possible ordinance violation that was discussed by the residents that attended the meeting.

 

Trustee C.J Horkey: Trustee CJ suggested that for future meetings, that we go back to our normal seating arrangement to make more room for the public that attend the meetings. He also asked to have some of the items that one of the residents discussed to be added to the next agendas.

Trustee CJ then yielded his time to the Fire Chief. Chief Motylinski hired a cleaning company, Clean Freaks, to do monthly cleaning at the fire hall. The fire department is still busy & short staffed. As of June1^st they have reached over 500 calls.

 

Trustee Lazette: Trustee Lazette discussed that he has a contact at DTE who he has reached out to about the possible ordinance violation on Wells Rd.

 

Trustee Travis Horkey: None.

 

Trustee Jaworski: None.

 

Trustee Hunt: None.

 

Clerk Sanders: Clerk Sanders discussed the purchase of Michigan Township Association education books that were discussed in January 2021. The clerk & Treasurer received books as well as a Board meetings book & Authorities and Responsibilities of Michigan Townships book, that has updated information & procedures for the township.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:  None

 

 

NEW BUISINESS:

• Poverty guidelines Resolution for Dundee Township for the 2021 Assessment

Year- Resolution 2021-7:

Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to adopt the 2021-7 Resolution. Treasurer Hunt Supported. A roll call was taken.

Trustee Travis Horkey: Yes

Trustee Ken Jaworski: Yes

Treasurer Hunt: Yes

Clerk Sanders: Yes

Supervisor Uhl: Yes

The vote was unanimous. Motion carried.

 

• Approve revised application for Poverty Exemption

Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve the use of the revised application for Poverty Exemption. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

• Fire Department Generator Maintenance:

Treasurer Hunt made a motion to approve the renewal of a 3-year generator maintenance agreement with Cummins in the amount of $1,534.98. Trustee Gary Lazette supported. Motion carried.

 

• Fire Department radio room bids:

Trustee Travis Horkey made a motion to accept the Thompson plumbing, Heating & A.C bid, in the amount of $4,550.00. This is for the replacement of the mini split system for the radio room. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

• American Rescue Plan Act Funds:

After a discussion of if the board wants to “Opt-In” or “Opt-Out” of receiving funds, Clerk Sanders made a motion to allow the Supervisor to sign any documents needed to opt-in to the American Rescue Plan Act Funds. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

• Dundee Township Zoning Ordinance Modifications-Review

The Board went over the modifications made to the language of the Township Zoning Ordinance & made suggestions.

 

 

 

 

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS: 

Treasurer Hunt discussed the article in the paper regarding the village building and conversations about moving offices.

Trustee CJ Horkey requested that we discuss some of the items that were brought to the board from the residents that attended this meeting.

 

 

Motion made by Treasurer Hunt & supported by Trustee Gary Lazette to pay the bills from 7/8/21 in the amount of $8,523.47.  Motion carried.  

 

Motion made by Treasurer Hunt supported by Trustee CJ Horkey to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 8:33p.m.    The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 27,2021 at 7pm.
